Dear Loved Ones,

Through much prayer and evaluating my commitments, and desiring to honor them well, I am closing my birth business to focus attention on forming the nonprofit organization and suicide prevention program, Hold My Guns.

I am honoring my existing birth work commitments through the end of the year, but not adding to them.

If you are considering becoming a Bradley Method doula/instructor, I want to encourage you to do so!

The Bradley curriculum is the most comprehensive of the brands, and it is a joy to teach. Furthermore, it includes husbands. Many other brands minimize the husband's role.

Teaching the Bradley Method for the past 11 years has made a difference in my doula work. It is my advice to anyone interested in doula work to consider being both an educator and a doula. My doula clients are often my students first -- which means that I have a well-established relationship with the couple by the time their baby decides to make an entrance.

Second, the immersive nature of teaching the Bradley Method has helped me to fully understand the scope of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care and it has been more meaningful to me than any doula workshop I have ever attended.

If you are serious about birth work, you should consider receiving your training through the Bradley Method!

I am forever grateful for the experience of being involved with birth work, and for all of the lovely people - even those yet unborn - whom I have had the privilege of supporting and working with professionally throughout the years. It a work that I look back upon with much love and satisfaction.

Much love,

Sarah Joy Albrecht, AAHCC

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

The Bradley Method® is a practical, natural approach to childbirth emphasizing purposeful nutrition, targeted prenatal exercises, pain-reducing relaxation techniques, all underscored by the training of fathers as labor coaches

The key to successfully having a natural birth is preparation. Over the course of 12 classes,  students learn to stay low-risk, avoid an episiotomy, make informed medical decisions... all while gaining a thorough and confidence-building understanding of pregnancy, stages of labor, optimal birth positions,  breastfeeding and more

What if I am not 100% sure about having a natural birth?

You’re still welcome to take Bradley classes!  As a mom of five, I know firsthand what it’s like to hear everyone’s birth horror stories (even from random strangers in the grocery store!) and to have a little anxiety before the baby arrives.  Bradley Method classes focus on staying low-risk during pregnancy. The healthier you are, the more options you'll have for your delivery.  Your body will be better prepared no matter how you choose give birth...and you'll likely recover faster, too!

Fathers-to-be don’t have it much easier. They hear stories from their friends and co-workers, many of them misinformed or negative, and it’s hard to know what to expect. While they may come to prenatal visits, they may feel ignored by doctors. When they are honest with themselves, they wonder if they will have what it takes to be good coach. The founder of the Bradley Method, Dr. Robert Bradley, was considered a radical in his time for his advocacy of fathers being present in the delivery room. He knew that, with proper training, dads-to-be make the best coaches, as they have one huge advantage over any doctor or nurse trying to soothe a woman in labor -- Love!

"This birthing series helped prepare my husband and I for childbirth. While the focus is on delivering naturally, we were also taught how to get our body in top shape throughout my pregnancy. We learned that eating well and exercising helps to prepare your body for anything. I loved the focus on a support person/coach that goes through the class as well to prepare for child birth and how to help the mother. The various guest speakers helped answer questions regarding breastfeeding, using a doula if desired and using massage to alleviate pain. I would recommend this class to any pregnant woman, regardless if a medication free delivery is desired or not. Sarah is an amazing instructor with compassion for the subject matter as well as her students!" - Krista H."

"Sarah was an absolute pleasure to learn from. The Bradley Method® helped me to cope through 18 hours of labor on pitocin with no pain meds! I recommend taking Sarah's course with no reservations." - Kelly B.

"Choosing to take your class is definitely one of the things that made it possible for me to achieve a pain medication free natural childbirth. My water broke 2 weeks early and I wasn't progressing so I ultimately ended up needing pitocin to get things moving but the things I learned in class allowed my coach and I to advocate for ourselves in the hospital and ultimately end up with the positive birth experience we were hoping for. Thanks for all you taught us." - Andrea T.
