Dear Loved Ones,

Through much prayer and evaluating my commitments, and desiring to honor them well, I am closing my birth business to focus attention on forming the nonprofit organization and suicide prevention program, Hold My Guns.

I am honoring my existing birth work commitments through the end of the year, but not adding to them.

If you are considering becoming a Bradley Method doula/instructor, I want to encourage you to do so!

The Bradley curriculum is the most comprehensive of the brands, and it is a joy to teach. Furthermore, it includes husbands. Many other brands minimize the husband's role.

Teaching the Bradley Method for the past 11 years has made a difference in my doula work. It is my advice to anyone interested in doula work to consider being both an educator and a doula. My doula clients are often my students first -- which means that I have a well-established relationship with the couple by the time their baby decides to make an entrance.

Second, the immersive nature of teaching the Bradley Method has helped me to fully understand the scope of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care and it has been more meaningful to me than any doula workshop I have ever attended.

If you are serious about birth work, you should consider receiving your training through the Bradley Method!

I am forever grateful for the experience of being involved with birth work, and for all of the lovely people - even those yet unborn - whom I have had the privilege of supporting and working with professionally throughout the years. It a work that I look back upon with much love and satisfaction.

Much love,

Sarah Joy Albrecht, AAHCC
Bradley Method® Childbirth Educator and Doula Since 2008

-Not currently offering classes-

Why did I become a Bradley instructor? The Bradley Method® sort of chose me -- at the time, I wasn't actively looking for childbirth classes. My first birth had went well, and I figured my husband Tom and I already knew what we were doing when we found out we were blessed to be expecting baby #2.

My friend Debbie began teaching The Bradley Method
® and invited us to attend her class so she would have familiar faces in the audience. We were happy to support her, and we were pleasantly surprised!  The material was extremely thorough! The positive difference between the two labors was obvious -- even though the second labor had some complications. Instead of agreeing to routine pitocin, for example, we were able to employ techniques we learned in our Bradley class to speed up the labor naturally and make informed decisions along the way...which resulted in a beautiful natural birth.

A few years later, a friend from church had a traumatic birth, fraught with unnecessary interventions. She also suffered through a slow and painful recovery. While I was bringing a meal to her, she asked how it was that my labors went so well. I explained to her that it wasn't coincidental; I had carefully prepared for my births using The Bradley Method®. After she listened to me explain what Tom and I had learned in the classes,  she realized she might have been spared much grief if only she had been better informed. She asked me to strongly consider becoming a teacher. "People need this information, Sarah!" So, I did!

After much hard work (a labor of love!) and support from my family, I became an affiliated instructor in 2008. Since then, I have taught The Bradley Method® to families
in Japan and in the United Sates.

What makes you stand out as a teacher?  I think my heart for helping others shines through in my work.
People describe me as calm, caring and grounded.  When I was a child, eldest of six, my father was unemployed or underemployed for years. At times, we would even dumpster-dive for food. While it was difficult experience, I am thankful to have gone through it, as it increased my faith in the Lord and shaped me to be a more resourceful, compassionate and nonjudgmental person.

Having had five children of my own, I know firsthand that pregnancy, birth and parenthood are life-altering experiences -- and that support and education are necessary. To help those who would not otherwise have access to such care, I gladly volunteer my extra time at a local crisis pregnancy center, to provide childbirth education and support to Chester County families in need.

I look forward to learning more about you, too! Please feel free to email me at or call me at 610.308.0461 to see if my classes and doula services are a good fit for you!

"Thank you for all of the ways you've shown love, care and support to us during pregnancy and delivery! Your expertise and gentle spirit were invaluable as we welcomed Cannon into the world. We thank God for you and your friendship, and are inspired to share with other couples what you've taught us. Thank you for being a gift to us during this very special season." - John, Bonnie and Cannon
