Our 12 week class series is taught in the relaxed setting of our home on Thursday nights. We combine discussion, activities, and relaxation practice in each of our classes, and our series is video enriched to help prepare couples for what to expect. Moms are taught the best ways to stay healthy and low-risk throughout their pregnancy. Coaches are taught how to support the mother throughout her pregnancy and to be her advocate through the birthing process. Couples will learn the mechanics of labor and birth, along with many different skills and techniques for handling the challenges of childbirth. We will share proven ways to help avoid unnecessary pain in labor as well as help to work with the mother's body throughout the process.
Though our emphasis is on normalcy, we also cover unexpected situations and different options that each laboring couple may have. Although Deb teaches most of the series, Todd joins in a few classes so that coaches can hear a father's perspective. Couples who have come through our series are invited to return after the birth of their baby to share their story with others. Throughout the class and afterwards, we are always available by phone or by email to help with questions or concerns.
