My husband and I felt so fortunate to find the hidden gem of The Bradley Method® for our first birthing experience and found that we couldn't stop talking about how thrilled we were with the education we received, the confidence that it gave us, and the positive outcome that we achieved for ourselves and most importantly, for our son Carter (born March 2009). Being a veterinarian that has been involved in the birth of animals and performed C-sections, I understood the medical options well, but didn't understand how to approach birth without medical intervention. I ended up feeling strongly that a natural birth is a wonderful for the physical and psychological health of mother, baby, and family. In addition, I was amazed at how much there was to learn and practice in class...
We learn how to stay healthy and low risk with nutrition and exercise, how to prepare your body and mind for birth, and how to relax through contractions with your coach. We'll also get you the information you need to get a good start to breastfeeding and the post-partum period.

NEW: Hunter wrote an article on fathering during pregnancy that appears in the Expectant Parent.
Update: our second Bradley baby was born March, 2011 - a very different, but still powerful and empowering experience. I would love to share both of my birth stories with you - one was at the hospital, one at Carolina Community Maternity Center.
One of the best things about The Bradley Method® is the special effort given to training dads to be an active participant in the whole process, beginning in pregnancy and continuing through labor and beyond. Classes help make the process less of a mystery and gives you a sense of confidence in your role.
Attending a Bradley class series together during pregnancy is an EXCELLENT way to give your baby and family the best possible start.
