I was 24 weeks pregnant with my son and had already changed OB's twice when my husband and I decided to switch to a midwife for a home birth. It was not a decision we made lightly but after weighing all our options it felt like the best decision for us. Fortunately, we were already taking Bradley Method classes and had the support of an incredible doula so we were confident that natural childbirth was not only a possibility....it was a NORMALITY!
The news of our decision was not met without much concern and doubt. The Bradley Method® classes helped to educate us in the facts that surround natural childbirth, bring my husband and I together in a way that has only strengthened our relationship and helped ease the concerns of our loved ones by providing truthful fact based information rather than myth.
The day I went into labor was an incredible one. As labor started, I felt no fear of the unknown. Jeremy and I were so prepared that we were able to just enjoy the process of bringing our son into the world. Griffin was born after a fast (yet intense) 5 hour labor! After we had settled in and our birth team had left, our family sat down to a wonderful home cooked meal. It was an experience that changed all our lives for the better.
In the days, weeks and months after our son was born, I began to realize how many people don't experience pregnancy and labor with the same confidence and respect that my family was surrounded with. It was then that I knew I had to become a Bradley Method teacher. Helping parents find the options that best suit them and support them through that process is a huge part of what make my classes so unique.
We are so excited and proud to announce that we recently welcomed another beautiful baby boy to our family. He was born naturally and gently in water in the comfort of our home with our amazing midwife team. As a Bradley Method® student with my first son and a Bradley Method® teacher with my second, I feel like I have a unique perspective that gives my classes a special quality.
