My husband, Evan, and I first began our natural birth journey in 2010, while pregnant with our first child. I thought that I was relatively well educated regarding how birth worked, but we decided to go ahead take a natural birth class. I am SO thankful that we did! I learned so much about how my body worked during pregnancy and birth, and how empowering a normal, natural birth could be. Along with that, attending Bradley classes was such a bonding activity for us during that pregnancy! Evan and I learned how to work together to prepare for labor and birth. On November 10th of 2010, our first son was born. It was an incredible experience, and we worked so well as a team to bring our 10 lb, 3 oz boy into the world!
After that experience, I became an advocate for educating women about their choices regarding birth. I want people to know that birth isn't something to be feared, but can be an amazing joy-filled event!
In 2012 we happily welcomed our *tiny* second son(only 9 lbs this time!). His birth was very different than the first, but no less wonderful. In 2014, our first daughter joined the family! She was also our first homebirth, and my easiest, most relaxed birth yet, despite the fact that she edged her brother out of first place by weighing 10.4 lbs!
I have now chosen to become a Bradley instructor myself, so that I can share with others what I have learned, and tp encourage and support them in their journey to have a healthy, beautiful birth!
