Better Outcomes For Mothers and Babies
Recent studies have shown that it is safer to give birth naturally than with medications. The use of medication substantially increases the odds of being delivered via cesarean section. The cesarean section rate in the United States is at an all-time high of over 30%. C-sections require longer and more painful recovery, interfere with breastfeeding, interfere with newborn bonding, cause long-term effects such as incontinence, and triple the risk of death for the mother.

Drugged babies are often less responsive, suffer reduced sucking reflexes, have breathing problems, and quite often are required to stay in the NICU.

Birth Is An Enjoyable Experience, Labor Does Not Equal Pain
Ask a mom who had a planned natural birth what she thinks and she will not tell you about the pain. She will tell you about the wonderful experience, how amazing her husband or coach was, how she could feel her body working, how it felt good to push her baby out, and how much energy she had as soon as her baby was born. She will tell you that she would do it again tomorrow, even minutes after giving birth. She will excitedly share her birth story and recommend husband-coached childbirth with anyone willing to listen.

Husband-Coached Childbirth:
The word "husband" refers to the coach or labor assistant. You do not need a husband to have a natural Bradley Method® birth. Many mothers rely on a relative, partner, close friend, or birth doula to be their coach.

The coach is vital to helping a mother stay relaxed and comfortable so she can focus on laboring. The role of a trained coach is extremely important and the coach will be nearly as tired as the mother after the baby is born. The Bradley Method® focuses on training the mother and the coach to work together as a team and take control of the birth experience.

The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth standard series is designed for small classes with lots of individual attention. The standard length of the classes is 12 weeks covering 12 units of instruction. The Official Student Workbook is supplied to every couple attending classes. It is 130 pages with over 75 pictures and illustrations. A Coach Card is also included. Your local instructor in The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth is an independent affiliated instructor. Some classes are video enriched and offer a Certificate of Congratulations.
