I am delighted to have the opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences with you about childbirth.  My story:

Through numerous personal observations (which I will share with you in class), it became clear to me that many birth defects and birth-related complications could be avoided by giving birth naturally.  This was further confirmed by the fact that my own mother had given birth without drugs four times!

My husband and I were thrilled to be expecting after a miscarriage in 2004.  Our baby was due in May of 2005.  Thus began our quest for options in birthing.  After reading Husband-Coached Childbirth,  we signed up for a Bradley class offered in Beaufort, South Carolina.  We're both folks that enjoy learning, so we thoroughly soaked in all the info given.  We were well prepared for the "textbook" hospital delivery of our first son on May 10, 2005 (10 days late and 21 1/2 hours of labor!)  My husband was an amazing coach!  I was totally empowered by all the knowledge I had gleaned in our Bradley class.  I felt in-control and prepared to give birth.  Our second son wasted no time in being conceived or entering the world.  He joined our family September 3, 2006 while I was seated in a wheelchair and fully clothed in a hospital hallway with my husband barely catching him before he hit the floor (2 hours of labor and on his due date!)   Who knew one could give birth that way!   We planned a homebirth for our third son, but two days before his birth, we found out our insurance would not cover our midwife.  So, on July 27, 2008, we entered the hospital at 4:32 AM, gave birth at 5:00 AM, and headed home that afternoon.  Our fourth child, a girl, was born breech at home with two midwives in attendance on July 12, 2010.  AND our fifth child, a boy, was born at home, EN CAUL, and in the water on October 26, 2013.  What can I say except the Bradley Method (R) works!

I fully believe that women's bodies are capable of the amazing task of giving birth.  It takes committment and dedicated learning to prepare for the marathon of giving birth, and that is why I teach the Bradley Method (R)!  We want healthy mothers and healthy babies with involved daddies.   Giving birth is a privilege that not all women experience.  May we rejoice in the blessings of pregnancy, childbirth, and raising the gifts that we have been given.  What a gift from the Lord!
