About The Classes
The comprehensive class series covers the full range of pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. You will learn about:
• How to maintain a healthy pregnancy through nutrition, exercise, and relaxation
• What to expect during labor and birth, physically and emotionally
• How to avoid unnecessary pain in labor and how to cope with the pain you feel
• What a partner can do to support a laboring woman, and how to be her advocate
• Variations and unexpected situations that may occur, and how to deal with them
• The pros and cons of different medical procedures and interventions
• How to breastfeed, and prevent or handle common breastfeeding problems
• Caring for your newborn baby from the moment of birth
• What to expect post-partum and how to deal with life as new parents
After
taking this class, you will be prepared to have a positive labor and
birth experience, no matter who you have chosen as your care provider
(obstetrician or midwife) or where you have chosen to give birth
(hospital, birth center, or home). You will have the knowledge to make
the choices that are right for your situation, and you will be confident
that you can deal with anything that happens. If you decide that an
unmedicated birth is right for you, you will know that The Bradley
Method® works: almost 88% of Bradley moms who have vaginal births do so without medication.
Classes
are limited to five couples or less, so you will receive individualized
attention. I actively involve moms and coaches in the classes, with
discussion, activities, DVD’s (including birth scenes), and labor
rehearsals. My husband teaches the classes focused on coaching, and he
is happy to speak about his experiences with The Bradley Method® and our
births. He was skeptical about the whole idea in the beginning, so he
can relate to other dads who have doubts.
Details: Time, Location, and Fees
***My next series begins Monday, June 3, at 7:00 PM. It is perfect for due dates in early August and beyond.***
Classes
meet once a week for the entire series. That sounds like a lot, but you
will find the time investment well worth it and it goes by quickly.
Couples have found the support throughout their last trimester helpful,
especially since non-pregnant friends often get tired of hearing all
your pregnancy-related talk! Each class is approximately two hours long,
with time built in for questions, as well as watching DVD's.
I teach in a Northwestern Albuquerque location - near the intersection of Paseo del Norte and Eagle Ranch Road.
The
tuition for the entire series is $250, which includes the student
workbook. Several discounts are available for things such as referring
another couple, registration at least two weeks in advance, and more.
Please contact me to discuss these options. Feel free to sit in on a
class and decide if it is right for you, with no payment or obligation.
Childbirth classes are often an eligible expense for your flex plan or
health spending account (talk to your specific plan representatives to
find out), and I am happy to provide you with receipts for
reimbursement.
If
you don’t see a class series that works for your due date, or if you
are interested in a private class series, please contact me.
To
reserve your place in class, I require a $50 non-refundable deposit (which is applied towards the tuition).
Since I limit them to five couples or less, they often fill up fast, so
contact me today about availability.
Finally,
please do not let finances be an obstacle to prevent you from taking
the class. Contact me if this is the case and we can work something out.
