We're happy you have chosen to research the Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth. We experienced the benefits of preparing for childbirth with the Bradley Method® before we had our son, Peter, in May 2010, and credit the classes for helping us experience a satisfying hospital birth without pain medication. In January 2012, we welcomed our youngest son, John, into the family. Thanks to our Bradley Method® training, his birth at home was a manageable and joyful experience.
In our small classes, we'll watch movies, play games, practice relaxation techniques, and use labor rehearsals to gain tools to manage the pain of labor and to avoid unnecessary pain. Among other topics, the classes will cover: - Lots of information and hands on practice to prepare husbands, partners, or other coaches to support a laboring woman
- Information about nutrition and exercises designed to keep mothers healthy and low risk
- What normal, natural birth can look and feel like so you know what to expect and you know how to work with your body during labor to manage pain and avoid or minimize unnecessary pain
- Options available for labor, birth, and newborn procedures so you can make informed decisions about what will work best for your family
- Positive ways to communicate with everyone on your birth team--including midwives, doctors, hospital staff, and loved ones
- Information and resources about breastfeeding, caring for newborns, and the postpartum period
- Information about variations and unexpected complications that can occur during some labors so you can be prepared for many different situations
