Congratulations! Your lives are in transition....from two to three...or more!
Love always multiplies!
In this special time of your lives, my goal is to guide you forward to a healthy and joyful experience. Knowing your options and being prepared are key to these goals.
My own three children were born by this method. I love teaching about natural birthing, breastfeeding and parenting. I am looking forward to hearing from you and helping your family to have a healthy and joyful birthing experience!
When I became pregnant in 2005, I was one of the first of my close friends to have children. I felt I needed someone to talk to who had experience and to whom I could ask my questions. I had a few conversations with my mother and my mother-in-law who both benefited from the American natural childbirth movement in the 70's but they could not satisfy my desire to be fully prepared for whatever was going to happen on the day (or possibly days) of my labor and birth.
How can I be sure I am in labor? Will I be able to deal with fear and pain? And what are the crucial things I should be doing now to prepare myself for this important event? Being an educated person and having read many books about pregnancy, I also felt I needed to learn as much as I could about labor and birth. At that time I was not sure if I could do it, or even if it would be possible, but I had the feeling that if NATURAL childbirth was ever going to be an option for me, I would have to be trained how to do it. Multiple sources I read made it clear that the best way to prepare was through a course. I looked into the descriptions of different courses and the one that I felt corresponded most with my personality was The Bradley Method®. I was mainly attracted by the fact that this method treats the couple as a unit in all aspects related to childbirth. My husband and I had always worked together as a team and I really appreciated that this method would foster and encourage that mutual relationship even in childbearing, which has traditionally been viewed as a strictly female endeavor. I went to the web to find my local teacher and here is where your story and my story converge!
Since then I've experienced 3 life-changingly ordinary, unmedicated, physiological births, two hospital births in California and 1 "Maison de Naissance" (CALM) birth in Paris, France. My children are a constant reminder of my intense yet satisfying birth experiences, rather than that of birthing anguish and regret many mothers report, not to mention the post-birth physical and psychological trauma that sadly, these mothers would rather block out. I can honestly say that if it weren't for The Bradley Method®, I very well might have been in with the later group.
When a couple we know here in Paris became pregnant in 2011, my husband and I encouraged them to look into The Bradley Method®. They were VERY interested in the method but there were no teachers in the Paris region at that time. With much encouragement from them and a desire to help other women to have the same opportunity that I had, I decided to embark on becoming a childbirth educator for The Bradley Method®. I am eager to help support you and your partner in a country where they may not speak your native language and where your close family may be a long plane flight away. I am looking forward to meeting you and helping to welcome your precious, new baby.
