We are so grateful to have found Kate's class. Her teaching style is gentle, informative, inspiring and non-judgmental. Thanks to Kate's class, I was confident and educated about natural birth and had a successful natural birth in a hospital where natural births are uncommon.

Learning about The Bradley Method® with Kate was the best thing we did while I was pregnant with my first son. She gave us all the resources, knowledge, and confidence to make the best out of our birth experience. Kate made the learning process very enjoyable and fun. Both my husband and I looked forward to every one of the classes. Thanks to Kate's class my husband went from wanting to stay out of the delivery room altogether to being the most amazing birth coach, I wouldn't have done it without him. We also appreciate all the support Kate gave us after delivery; in particular, all the support and resources she gave me while coping with breastfeeding difficulties.

As a man, my biological role in the pregnancy lasted about 3 minutes into the Isaac Hayes song, "One Woman". I pretty much figured that's all I had to do except for pick out the right cigars and teach the kid to drive when he was 15. That's where Kate came in. My wife and I took her class and it transformed how I viewed the pregnancy.
As a medical student, I can easily state that Kate is both highly intelligent and knowledgeable in the biology of pregnancy, but her true art is her skill in helping a couple make it through that pregnancy. She helped me define my role in the pregnancy as the critical support for my wife both physically and emotionally. It not only broadened my role in the pregnancy and brought my wife and I closer together, but also Kate helped me be worthy to assume that role.

Kate's matter of fact style of teaching the Natural Childbirthing class was very effective in preparing my husband/coach and I for our first birth. She covers many details, is willing to take the time to answer all questions, and sincerely invites everyone to share their ideas. She is also very good at making fathers/ coaches very much part of what is happening with their mothers-to-be. We feel that these classes were one of the most important parts of our successful birth experience. We achieved an unmedicated, natural birth, which seems to be more and more a rarity these days. - Mireya

Kate's class was fantastic. She managed to deliver an enormous amount of information in a very easy-to-understand and accessible way. Prior to Kate's class, I had decided to birth at home and I spent months researching the risks and benefits of homebirth. In that time, I seemed to encounter either extreme proponents of homebirth who devalued hospital births, or proponents of hospital deliveries who feared and mistrusted anyone who would consider birthing at home. Kate somehow manages to hold these two diverging health perspectives beautifully. She presents each issue, carefully explaining the risks and benefits of all the options available and lovingly empowers the women in her class to choose what feels best for them. I would highly recommend her class to anyone.

Kate conducts her classes in an extremely sensitive manner, thinking about the needs of each couple. We really enjoyed being in her class. Beyond just teaching about The Bradley Method®, she takes an active interest in every student. You feel as if she is both friend and teacher. We often stayed after class to ask Kate about our individual pregnancy related issues. Not once did we hesitate to call Kate outside of class if we had some concerns or worries about the birth.

I cannot recommend Kate's class highly enough. It gives you all the information you need to fully participate in the decision-making around your child's birth, and as much coaching, practice and support as anything possibly could to prepare you for the physical and emotional demands of the experience. Natural childbirth was the goal of everyone in our class, which Kate supported wholly without ever seeming the least bit judgmental about other options--the health of the mother and baby was always presented as the supreme value to which all other aspects of the birth must be secondary.
This balanced approach--combining support of the desire for a natural birth along with substantial knowledge of (and respect for) the medical aspects--served us particularly well during the birth of our daughter, when things did not go entirely according to plan. To make a long story short, my wife was 2 weeks overdue when we reluctantly acquiesced to inducing the birth, despite our hope for a natural birth. Thanks to the scientific information, coping strategies, and tactics for interacting productively with the medical staff which we learned in Kate's class, we were able to stave off all further measures long enough for nature to run its course, all despite the additional challenges which induction can present. Within very few hours of labor and unassisted by anything except the techniques from Kate's class, my wife gave birth to a healthy 9 lb. 6 oz. baby. Without the resources which Kate's class provided us, I am certain that the delivery of such a large, late baby would have proceeded quite differently, and possibly much less like the birth experience we had hoped for.

The Bradley Method® class with Kate Movius left me with a sense of confidence about my babies and my body during the whole 'birth confusion' thing. But, best of all, it brought my husband in on it too and gave me a wonderfully informed and confident partner to lean on when the birth of my twins finally came. I highly recommend this course for anyone who wants to feel empowered by the birth experience.

Through The Bradley Method®, Kate taught us how to be truly empowered in our relationship to the hospital and the nurses. And my husband was given the gift of recognizing the relationship between his participation and my success.

As a father-to-be, Kate's intelligent and instinctive approach to teaching The Bradley Method® really helped prepare me for the big day. It made the childbirth experience thrilling instead of anxiety- laden, and I'm forever grateful for Kate's knowledge and her ability to convey this knowledge.

As a husband I appreciated not only Kate's terrific help for my wife, but her ability to give me a much better understanding of the power of my role in supporting my wife. She gives grounded, concrete guidance as well as a deeply respectful mentoring which helped me to find a personal and authentic way to be present for my wife.

------------ My pregnancy was not planned (but welcome), so my husband and I knew nothing about childbirth options. And we confused natural childbirth with home birth, something we did not think was for us. Then we found Kate's class - and it was, by far, the BEST thing we did to prepare for the birth. Kate offered practical knowledge and skills that we were glad to have during labor. She really helped me get over the fear of childbirth - even though she was completely honest about how hard it would be. She offered tips for effective couples communication, husband/father support, negotiating with the doctor and medical staff, recognizing the stages of labor, working through the pain, breastfeeding, post-partum care, establishing a new mom network, and MANY other things we did not know we needed to think about. She also helped us (in the 7th month of pregnancy) find a doctor/hospital with experience in natural childbirth, which can be tough these days. Natural childbirth is an amazing and empowering experience that we're happy we had. Kate played a major role in helping my husband and me find the mental strength to get through it. -Wendy
