Nancy first learned about natural (unmedicated) childbirth and
breastfeeding from a high school friend who shared the exciting story of how
her sister-in-law gave birth without drugs and was breastfeeding her baby.
Nancy read a couple recommended books read cover to cover.
Two years later while in college, Nancy was researching the
role of the expectant father for a maternity nursing class and stumbled
across Robert Bradley's Husband-Coached
Childbirth book at the college library. She was wowed, learning
how Dr. Bradley taught expectant moms and dads a simple,
natural, yet profound, proven way to have healthy, drug-free childbirth with
baby's father as coach (labor support.) From that point forward, Nancy was
committed to the concept of preparing for natural childbirth and having the
baby’s father or close family/friend actively involved in the pregnancy and
birth as Dr. Bradley enthusiastically shared in his revolutionary book and later in a lecture Nancy attended in Portsmouth VA where he spoke.
Along
came George. Nancy & George fell in love and married. Soon they were expecting
a baby. Altogether, they gave birth naturally to four babies with no pain
medication necessary, thanks to their preparation and conditioning per The
Bradley Method®. George made a terrific labor and birth coach and
father. Now we are grandparents of six "Bradley"
grandchildren.
We teach our classes in-person and live online for those who
prefer to off-site classes!
We love helping are others like you prepare for optimal
childbirth. George is a big asset to our
classes, co-teaching with Nancy. We keep our content fresh and up to date.
Nancy attends relevant childbirth worker workshops. In addition to keeping
her certification current with AAHCC, she studies current research and trends
and is a professional member of Evidence Based Birth. She and George
participate in free, semi-annual St. Vincent's Childbirth Seminars for parents
too.

We have taught over 125 series and over 350
couples since 2009 from the tri-state area, many who are clients of local
midwifery practices but also those planning hospital and home births. We are
independent instructors of the Bradley Method® and
are known locally as Optimal Childbirth.

A standard Bradley series is 12 weekly lessons. It was not always
so. Historically, classes were 8 to 10 sessions. You can read the rationale

AAHCC.
