| While Larry and I knew that having our first child, Logan, would change our lives, we had no idea what a transformational experience his actual birth would be for us, our relationship and our family. Our belief that our Bradley Method® training made this life changing experience possible is what led us to become Bradley Method® instructors and share this with other couples. When we first found out we were pregnant, our goal was a natural, unmedicated birth, but after the cynical response that I got from my doctor and several friends, I was concerned that this could be too hard. Thankfully, one of our friends recommended the Bradley Method®. We have no doubt that the Bradley Method® was instrumental in giving us the tools and confidence to give birth naturally. We gave birth to Logan in 2007 at the National Naval Medical Center, and I don’t think that I could have had an unmedicated birth there if not for our Bradley Method® training. Logan’s birth was the most empowering, intimate and special event that Larry and I have ever shared. It was the best way to start our family! UPDATE: Baby #2, Madelyn, was joyfully born at home on May 6th, 2010. After taking the summer to settle in as a new family this summer, I am beginning to teach again this fall. |
| Classes meet weekly for 12 weeks. Class size is limited to 5 couples in order to provide individual attention. The Bradley Method® classes provide information to an expecting mother and her coach. Nutrition, exercise, pregnancy and labor interventions (and risks and benefits), labor rehearsals, writing a birth plan, and breastfeeding are all covered. Classes are interactive as we teach the natural process of birth and how to avoid unnecessary pain and handle the hard work of labor. Husbands/coaches are taught how to support a mother during pregnancy and how to be her advocate during labor and birth. It is recommended that you start Bradley Method® classes when you are 5-6 months pregnant. The class fee ($350) includes a student workbook, all class materials, and access to our lending library. Student, military and teacher discounts are available. |

| The standard Bradley® series is designed for small classes with lots of individual attention. The standard length of the classes is 12 weeks covering 12 units of instruction. The Student Workbook is included in classes. It is 130 pages with over 75 pictures and illustrations. A coach card is also included. Your local Bradley® teacher is an independent affiliated instructor. Some classes are video enriched and offer a Certificate of Congratulations. |
