Welcome to the personal web site of
VALERIE & MICHAEL DAVIS AAHCC

I first heard about the Bradley Method(R) from a friend who had also chose this method. She had been hearing me ask why childbirth couldn't be more like how animals did it, natural and not with so many interventions.
Of course, the thought of going into labor for the first time was something that initially scared me, but after taking the Bradley(R) classes, I felt comfortable. I was confident in my abilities as a woman to handle birth, and the decisions I might have to make about my birth.
My son, Brendan, was born naturally (2 weeks late) at 9 lbs 1.2 oz and 22 1/2 inches long. It was 12 hours of hard work, but very worth it.

I had my second son on April 6th, 2005. I was fortunate to be pregnant while teaching, so I was able to go through the experience with my students (as you go through the 12 weeks you really form a bond with your classmates). I was the first in our group to have my baby. It was an intense, quick 3 hour labor. Jonas was born 10 days late. He was 8 lbs 15 oz, 21 1/2 inches long.

(This just goes to show, that by trusting my body, going "past my due date" and having a "big" baby didn't mean interventions were necessary...My body did what it was supposed to, "just like mother nature intended")

My 3rd son, Kourbyn was born at home on April, 15th 2007. I am so glad that I decided to have a homebirth. (Looking back, I wish I had done it that way with all three) This labor was very different. I labored all day, and when I got close to the end, it started happening really quick. I barely had time to hop out of the shower, and kneel on the bathroom floor. The next thing I knew, I was holding my baby in my arms with the support and love of my husband, kids, friends, and dear midwife and her assistant. I don't think I could have had a better group of people around me. The whole thing felt so calm. Kourbyn was my smallest boy yet, 8lbs 3oz. He was born 45 mins after midnight, I rested a little while with him, and woke up at 10am to teach class 12 of one of my Bradley series. It was such a nice closure to the class to have the baby to show off. The students were so amazed and inspired that just a few hours ago I had a baby, and here I was talking with them and showing off the "fruits of my labor".
Now, that is why I teach! I want all women to know that your birth can be what you want it to be.
