“Just as a woman's heart knows how and when to pump, her lungs to inhale, and her hand to pull back from fire, so she knows when and how to give birth.”

ABOUT ME:

My husband and I have two amazing children. I loved being a Bradley® student when I was pregnant with my first child; I loved how we spent so much time on nutrition, communication, and relaxation. What we learned in class was invaluable during both my pregnancies and births and continues to help our family live healthier lives. I am so excited to be able to share what I know with other parents.

I believe how a baby enters this world will have an impact on the rest of their life. I know how a mother feels about her birth will have lasting effects on her life as well. I want you to understand what's going on - inside your body and outside - and to trust yourself. I want you to know your choices, be empowered, and find the untapped strength that lies within. I want labor companions to feel comfortable and confident and to know how important and needed they are from pre-conception, to labor and birth, into grandparenthood. I want your baby to have the gentlest, safest entrance to this world as possible. Our world needs more Bradley® families!

ABOUT CLASSES:

Class size is kept small; this gives us more time for relaxation practices, labor rehearsals, videos, and most importantly, to give you as much time as you need for your individual situation. I’m not employed by any hospital, doctor, insurance company, or midwife. I am employed by you and as such, my goal is to make sure all your needs are met.

Classes are designed for both mom and partner. We focus on the skills everyone needs for labor. I have many activities to sharpen techniques and keep everyone involved. Class topics include ~ being comfortable in pregnancy ~ staying low risk so you have more options ~ optimal fetal positioning ~ communication with your birth team ~ relaxation ~ positive positions ~ physical and emotional stages of labor ~ tools for labor and birth ~ avoiding unnecessary discomfort ~ understanding the choices you have ~ variations and complications to normal birth, including cesareans ~ exercise ~ nutrition ~ breastfeeding ~ newborn care ~ infant CPR ~ parenting ~ and your concerns. Much of this information will be useful not only in the labor room and nursery, but throughout your life. My comprehensive classes save you the trouble of scheduling pregnancy classes, birth classes, breastfeeding classes, and newborn classes because all of these are included.

I teach most of my classes from my home in Aurora which is a smoke and pet free environment. I am also working on a series in Ft Morgan, please contact me for more details.

CLASS SCHEDULE FOR 2010:

12 Class Regular Series: A standard series is 12 units and classes lasts about 2 ¼ hours. I offer Saturday morning and Thursday evening classes.

{ Saturdays from May 29th to August 14th at 9:00am; late registration will be available until June 12th

{ Thursdays from July 8th to September 23rd at 7:00pm; late registration will be available until July 22nd

{ Saturdays from August 28th to November 13th at 9:00am; late registration will be available until September 11th

{ Thursdays from October 7th to December 23rd at 7:00pm; late registration will be available until October 21st

{ Saturdays from December 4th to February 26th at 9:00am; late registration will be available until December 18th; we will skip December 25th for Christmas

I realize that many books and care providers encourage moms to wait until they are much closer to their estimated due dates before taking a class; this is problematic for the standard 12 week series. Please contact me to work out a schedule that will fit for you - including in Ft. Morgan.

CLASS TUITION:

In a series, you have videos, the workbook, handouts, supplies, and access to my lending library (topics include labor, birth, breastfeeding, parenting, health, nutrition, sleep, and much more!). I also provide unlimited phone and e-mail support, any time, day or night; I am here for you when you need me.

Tuition is $300; the first $75 is a non-refundable deposit due 2 weeks before the first class (time permitting); the remainder is due the first class. Private class tuition is based on time and other factors, usually $350.

You only have one chance to birth your baby—do not let tuition stand in the way of this information that will help! I am happy to barter, take payments, and/or work out other arrangements if necessary. We can find a way for you to get what you and your baby need – I promise!

I am eagerly looking for someone to barter with - classes for yardwork!
