After living for over four years in the Netherlands where natural childbirth and midwives are the norm, we returned to the US and discovered to our dismay that unmedicated birth was rare.  We didn’t know how we would manage a natural birth in the face of such widespread medical intervention.  The Bradley Method® taught us how. 


Our son was born in 2002 under water as Aaron cradled me in his loving arms.  A nurse commented that she had never seen anyone smile as much between pushes.  In 2005 we planned another water birth, but I had barely stepped into the tub when our daughter emerged.  Once again, we had an absolutely wonderful experience.  How peaceful and fulfilling it felt to breastfeed my beautiful newborn in the warm water.

 

With the Bradley Method® awesome birth experiences are the norm, mother and baby are healthier, and family bonds are strengthened.  This course will help you understand the birth process while building your confidence so that you can trust your body and its innate wisdom.  You will learn how excellent nutrition, specific exercises and relaxation will facilitate an efficient labor.  Husbands will learn how to support their wives during pregnancy and be advocates and coaches during labor and birth.  We will show videos of live births and discuss breastfeeding in depth.  With the small class size, you will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions. 


Classes will be held near Marietta Square, close to I-75.  The course consists of 12 weekly classes, each lasting about 2 1/4 hours.  The cost is $325 and includes a student workbook.  A $25 non-refundable deposit will reserve your place.  You may begin classes at any time before the seventh month of pregnancy, but the earlier you start, the better.

The standard Bradley® series is designed for small classes with lots of individual attention. The standard length of the classes is 12 weeks covering 12 units of instruction. The Student Workbook is included in classes. It is 130 pages with over 75 pictures and illustrations. A coach card is also included. Your local Bradley® teacher is an independent affiliated instructor. Some classes are video enriched and offer a Certificate of Congratulations.
