Welcome to the personal web site of
DANA WIELUNS LEGAWIEC AAHCC

My husband and I welcomed our daughter in October 2007 after a spontaneous, unmedicated labor at home and drug-free birth at our local hospital.  Our daughter's birth was characterized by exhilaration and grace, qualities that have continued throughout her young life.  As we round out her third year, we are continually amazed by and grateful for our exuberant, healthy, happy child, and cannot help but credit some of her pleasant demeanor to the wonderfully natural circumstances of her birth.

So inspired by the potential of natural birth, in May 2010 we welcomed our second child with a homebirth, assisted by a certified nurse-midwife.  This birth surpassed our expectations in terms of comfort, confidence and joy for the entire family.

As a first-time mother, I was initially attracted to the Bradley Method®  because its core principles of relaxation and physical awareness were compatible with my yoga practice and work as a movement coach and choreographer.  The Bradley Method®  gave me the information I needed to approach birth with confidence, excitement and joy.   I look forward to sharing this information with you to assuage your fears, clarify misconceptions, build confidence and empower you for giving birth, whether at a hospital, birthing center or at home.

The Bradley Method® celebrates the natural, physical process of labor and birth, equipping expectant parents with the knowledge and tools to remove fear and anxiety, while bolstering a healthy pregnancy.  The twelve classes cover a myriad of topics, including weekly review of nutritional goals, exercises for physical, mental and emotional preparation for labor and birth, labor rehearsal sessions and role-playing, and breastfeeding.  Many of the classes include films of natural births.  Above all, classes are designed to be interesting, relaxing and fun for both mother and coach.

After relocating with my family from California to Maine,

I am excited to begin teaching in Portland

on Saturday mornings this fall.

Additional classes will be scheduled according to interest.

Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and birth.
