Rachelle and Nate are the parents of 4 children, 3 of whom were birthed using the Bradley Method®
Even long before I had children I always knew that I wanted to have a natural birth. The problem is that I was a little naive and expected that if I wanted a natural birth, then I could have one. What I didn't realize was that the hospital system is not set up today to support natural birth. So after taking a short childbirth class, we went into our first birth largely unprepared with an obstetrician who did not support natural childbirth. Although I did not experience the many horrors other women have in this scenario, I did end up being largely unsatisfied with this birth experience, and I ended up taking Stadol.
When we became pregnant with our second child, we knew we wanted to change things, so we did a lot of research, signed up for a Bradley Method® class, read a lot of books, hired a doula, and changed care providers and hospitals. We had a lovely natural birth. With our third and fourth babies we decided to have home births. These births were also wonderful, life-changing experiences.
I enjoy parenting more than anything I've done in my life, but it is a very hard and challenging job. I want to help support other parents in their journeys to make the best decisions for their children and families. I feel that teaching childbirth education is the best way to do this. I believe an empowering birth is a rite of passage into the wonderful journey of parenting. I became a Bradley instructor so that I could help support others on this journey right from the start.
