In-Person classroom instructions include: group interaction, visual learning from: DVD's, fetal and pelvic models, and charts. performing natural breathing and relaxation practices, guidance in nutrition and fitness for a healthier labor and birth, partner/coach practice in massage techniques - acupressure points - labor comfort measures using demonstration/return demonstration - and couple-focused activities throughout class series. The classes are interactive and we all have a good time!
In each class, 30 minutes of focused practice is on relaxation, hands-on labor comfort skills, or doing labor practices. Couples see an increase in their skills level as they work with these techniques in class observed by the instructor and at home on their own, as well as reading their Bradley® Student Workbook.
Results can be phenomenal and a parents' focus on the preparation and classwork really shows up in our birth stats.
With 545 Bradley Students the last 26 years, my student statistics show just how motivation, support & focused education can impact birth outcomes.
* 91.5% vaginal births - 8.5% cesarean births * 60% in hospital - 35% birth center - 05% home birth
* 80% have no medication - 20% have some medication
My records show that, of my students' midwife-attended births, (whether hospital, home or birth center) 95% had a vaginal birth. 97% of midwife attended births took no medications at their birth.
