Hi! I’m Laurie, wife to Doug and mom to five amazing children! I
was blessed with healthy pregnancies and was able to have natural, unmedicated births
with each of my children.
Before I became pregnant, my opinion
of labor came from friends and the media. I thought labor was something painful
and awful that you endured and then got an epidural in order to survive.
When I became pregnant with my first
baby, I began reading and researching about childbirth and my views changed. I
came to understand something I should have known intuitively from nature and
history - that childbirth is a natural, normal process that women have
successfully navigated for thousands of years. It is a natural process, not a
medical event. My new outlook led me searching for a childbirth method with
similar philosophies.
I was thrilled when I discovered The
Bradley Method, and my husband and I took the classes. I loved being educated about my body, the birth process, and how
I could prepare. This knowledge was very empowering and helped take the mystery
and fear out of the unknown.
My babies' births
are some of the most joyous and empowering experiences of my life. I am so grateful
for Bradley classes that gave me the knowledge and confidence to experience
natural, unmedicated, intervention-free childbirth. I am so excited to share this knowledge and these tools with other women to help them have the birth they desire!
