About Rachel:
I cannot remember a time when I was not passionate about women’s issues, and particularly women’s health. I had my first child at a young age, and found the maternity process entirely bewildering. Young and mostly alone, I had no idea what was happening to me and my baby, or how to provide for her once she was born (and later, when she was quite sick). I learned quickly, but it was a rockier road than it ought to have been. The experience strengthened my desire to advocate for other women who find themselves similarly lost at the hands of a fairly impersonal medical institution.
The journey into familyhood should be a time of joy, love, and familial and community support. It is my sincerest intent to be able to bring such an experience to any mother family who wants and needs it, and to be able to strengthen the family bond—no matter what shape the family takes.
Mission:
To offer families the tools and childbirth education necessary so that each unique family may discover its own potential and to blossom into a healthy, happy, supported family unit. Values:
I believe that every family has the right to—and should be empowered to use—the information and tools needed to experience a comfortable and easy transition into familyhood, according to their own needs and best interests. I believe in promoting natural, drug-free childbirth as the means to achieving the best birth experience and familyhood transition possible, while recognizing the need for flexibility and compassion in helping others achieve their goals.
