     My first experience taught me that birth and breastfeeding are normal, healthy processes having the potential for being peak experiences of a lifetime.  This philosophy became more important to me after my first son's birth.  I was completely 'uneducated'.  Husband-participation in labor and birth was 'not  allowed' in our hospital. I had no knowledgable support, and I was coaxed by my care provider to have an epidural. This was a total disappointment for me.  During my next pregnancy I did much research and learned about the many ways I could plan and achieve my much hoped-for natural birth experience.

     I was elated when I attended La Leche League Meetings and heard so many positive, natural birth stories from other mothers.  I read LLL's library books, 'Husband Coached Childbirth' and then 'Natural Childbirth, the Bradley Way'. I was inspired to seek sources for learning relaxation skills, natural breathing techniques and the different labor comfort measures to ease labor pain. This journey led us to The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth. That personal instruction from a trained and experienced educator who had accomplished her own natural births was so reassuring!

     Happily - our 2nd and 3rd sons were both born naturally, with the support  and presence of my husband, Paul - with no interventions! This felt right and so normal to fully experience the births of our sons with an active and alert participation in that process!  Holding and nursing our sons right after birth was such a joy!  It was the normal, natural positive beginning we always wanted for our family.

The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth standard series is designed for small classes with lots of individual attention. The standard length of the classes is 12 weeks covering 12 units of instruction. The Official Student Workbook is supplied to every couple attending classes. It is 130 pages with over 75 pictures and illustrations. A Coach Card is also included. Your local instructor in The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth is an independent affiliated instructor. Some classes are video enriched and offer a Certificate of Congratulations.
