“Although birth is only one day in the life of a woman, it
has an imprint on her for the rest of her life.” JG
Birth is inevitable. You won’t be able to stop it. You can both
embrace it and work with it, or you can resign yourself to be delivered of your
baby. For me, this was an easy choice. I knew that I wanted something different
than the typical medical model of birthing. I also knew that caring for my
unborn baby started right from the beginning.
Getting pregnant was our struggle. So, once we found out we
were expecting our first baby, it only made since that we would continue to
support this pregnancy the best way we knew how. Watching our diet, doing daily
exercises, and planning for an un-medicated birth were things we learned in
class. Our labor was a very typical first birth. During the process we both
felt prepared and welcomed the work. At the end of a 27-hour labor we brought a
drug-free, alert, smiling baby girl into the world. Through the process I felt
so empowered and so strong.
Your story and your journey will be as unique as you. But
there are things that you can do now to ensure a positive outcome. Learning
about nutrition, exercises, about pregnancy and birth, are all things we cover
in the twelve-week classes. Being prepared for the work ahead can bring so much
strength and encouragement. Having a loving coach beside you, who has invested in learning for you and the baby, can bring such a confidence and protection.
I am so happy you have found us. We look forward to walking
with you through this journey.
